My Take on The Product

The IPad 2 can be a bit delicate and for the money you pay when you buy one you want to make sure that it is safe, as you do not want hundreds of dollars down the tube. The cover that Apple provides is fine for light use and as long as you are careful your IPad will be fine, but if you get into any hard use issues or if you are traveling with your IPad, I highly recommend looking for a hard shell case! 

What is great about these cases is that the design of them makes it easy to simply slide in your IPad and lock it into place. At the same time the fold on the case provides you with a nice incline to be able to type a message or play a game. You can also use it the opposite way and it can become a movie screen as well for the latest movies you download to watch on the fly! 

This case covers the entire I{ad without blocking anything that you would need to get to, so there is no reason that you would have to continue to get the IPad out of the case to adjust things like volume or even to use the camera which was a nice add-on if I do say so myself!

I was able to check out the basic black case and it is sleek and stylish, but if black is not your color you can easily find another amongst the nine that they have! The one thing I notice with the black though is that it does tend to show fingerprints. I do not know whether this is the case on the other colors, but black does show this (Just something to keep in mind).

Overall, I really liked this new case, it was very light, relatively inexpensive and provides with the peace of mind that your IPad is safer than in some of the lighter weight cases that you can find on the market. I highly recommend this to all!

My Take on the Product

In trying out these products, I found them to be easy to use and that they covered the kids well. I especially liked the Sun Stick for use on the face as it simply rolled on and made getting into curved places around the nose and on the forehead a snap. The only issue that I had was in the fact that the product did tend to be a little more oily that some other sunscreen products. This was not a problem overall, just an observation.

The kids loved the smell (bubble gum) as well as the characters that were on the products as well.

Overall, some great products that will cover your children well this summer!

Poison Control Warns Parents About Alcopops and Energy Drinks

Dr. Cyrus Rangan, a Medical Toxicologist and Assistant Medical Director at the California Poison Control System, warns parents that caffeinated energy drinks should not be given to children and teens.  While caffeine is a legal stimulant, a number of these beverages are contain more and more caffeine (and pro suas guarana, which is a caffeine relative), and the bottom line is that there are NO studies whatsoever to determine the safety of these products in children.

There's also a buzz about Alcopops. They’re sweet with fruity flavors like “Razzberry” and “Pomegranate Twist.” These are favorites among young teens and middle schoolers. They look like their non-alcoholic counterparts but they are really flavored malt beverages.

Alcopops have roughly the same amount of alcohol as beer, but their high sugar and–in some cases--caffeine content does a great job of masking the flavor and the affect. Teen girls report drinking more alcohol more often than their male peers and the American Medical Association (AMA) points to the popularity of Alcopops or ‘girlie drinks’ as a significant factor behind the shift.

Protect Family While Driving: Tire Safety Week

Summer driving season has officially arrived and while we are all concerned with safety on the road, we often forget one of the most important components: our tires.  According to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 660 highway fatalities are caused by underinflated tires annually.

This National Tire Safety Week (June 5-11, 2011) tire expert and Michelin subjective test driver, Sarah K. Robinson can share her tips for tire safety.  She can explain some of the simplest steps you can take to ensure you have a smooth, and most importantly safe, ride this summer travel season including:

• Check you tire pressure – Check your tire pressure at least once a month and before and after a long trip.  Tires can lose 1-2 psi per month.
• Examine your treads – Always make sure your tires have at least 2/32” of tread depth (the penny trick). Examine the wear patterns; the wear patterns can tell you whether your tires are over or under inflated and if your alignment is off. 
• Avoid hydroplaning – Simple adjustments to driving including reducing your speed and avoiding wet spots, especially standing water can reduce your risk of hydroplaning.
• Rotate – Tires should be rotated every 6,000-8,000 miles.
• Keep deepest treads in the rear – Make sure when replacing just two tires that you put the two tires with the deepest treads on the rear axle regardless, whether you have front-wheel, rear-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Safest Families in America

Safety is an important issue for most American families with moms and dads serving as the biggest champions for their families. Summer Travel Games Encourage Parents to find the “Right Game / Right Child”

With summer on the horizon, many families are going to take video games with them, and there are also a ton of video games in hotels these days…

But how do you know what is the “right game for the right child”?

Everyone knows the difference between a “PG” and an “R” movie rating for children, but parents may not understand the different ways that the ESRB breaks down video games… the ESRB (Entertainment Software Ratings Board) is a non-profit group, designed to be a resource for parents, especially when they shop this holiday season… video games again expected to be at the top of many lists… 

Well, there is a cool NEW technology that debuted recently that provides info in seconds, and has especially interesting visuals to go with it.

The rating summaries on ESRB’s website are a great supplemental source of
information, providing detailed descriptions of the specific content in a game that a

Retailers display signage explaining the rating system to consumers, and store
associates are trained to assist parents who need help choosing games

Major retailers have store policies restricting the sale or rental of M-rated games to
those under 17 without parental permission

The FTC’s most recent audit measured compliance with these store policies among
national retailers at 80%, far surpassing the rates of restriction for DVDs, music and
admittance to R-rated movies

Parents should be involved in and informed about their children’s video gaming;
monitor gameplay and play games with their children; check the rating each time they
buy or rent a game

Parents should also take advantage of parental controls that are featured on all new
game consoles
