Game Review - Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident

About the Game
Unravel the Mystery
The seek-and-solve fun of the Mystery Case Files™ series makes its first appearance on the Wii™ system with the Mystery Case Files™: The Malgrave Incident™ game. Players must unravel the mystery behind the enigmatic Malgrave Island by using the Wii Remote™ controller to search for clues, solve puzzles and find cleverly concealed items in multilayered hidden-object scenes. The game’s puzzle-based fun is enhanced by a captivating storyline and new multiplayer modes that allow up to four friends to test their sleuthing skills together.

FEATURES:
  • For the first time in the Mystery Case Files series, hidden-object scenes have three visual layers, requiring players to zoom and scroll to find certain objects using the Wii Remote controller. Each hidden-object scene contains an inventory item that will help players access new areas, solve other puzzles and unravel the mysteries of Malgrave Island. In addition to puzzles, players will encounter hidden collectible items that can unlock bonus stories.
  • To aid players in locating hard-to-find items, a hint button in the form of an on-screen magnifying glass can be used to highlight the area surrounding certain objects.
  • Three competitive multiplayer modes can be played with up to four players. Each multiplayer match consists of three rounds. Players can choose options such as each player’s skill level and select a hidden-object scene for each round. Multiplayer games include Swift Pick (players compete to find hidden objects first), Tick Tick Pick (players must find hidden objects and pass the bomb before it explodes) and Classic Pick (players race to find the greatest number of hidden objects). Additional controllers are required for multiplayer modes and are sold separately.
  • In Adventure Mode, up to four people can play cooperatively to solve the multilayered hidden-object scenes. The main player controls the camera and additional players can join in on the adventure at any time during normal game play.
  • A gripping storyline will keep players engaged as they progress through the game’s puzzle-based challenges. Legend has it that a strange dust found on Malgrave Island has the power to cure any illness. As players collect the dust, they also unearth the island’s many mysteries and raise questions about a wealthy industrialist with a secretive past.

My Take on the Game

My family loves mysteries! With that in mind I was intrigued to see what this game was all about. I had never heard of the Mystery Case Files series in the past, but as the name suggests this game puts you in the shoes of the master detective working to solve the mystery!

While this game is not the action packed adventure, what you do get is fun and engaging. The game itself makes you think and to use your eyes as you are going through the game. It provides you with many fun puzzles that you have to solve to collect clues towards solving the mystery itself. You do have to be patient and take your time to find the clues, it is not the fast paced game that some others might be. That being said though it is a ton of fun and you are definitely going to enjoy it!

The game designers also did a good job at keeping the secret of the game and not tipping their hands on the end result in the game.Whether you are playing by yourself, or even better as a multi-player game you will have a blast in this game.

In each game, you'll use the controller to immerse yourself in the action. Use the controller like a supernatural fishing reel, hooking ghosts in a haunted house, then pulling them into a cage. Grab it like a mallet to defend your garden, smacking pests on the head or batting them into the distance. All of the games can be played in single-player and two-player modes, and four of the games can even bring in up to four players. (Additional accessories required for multiplayer mode. Sold separately.) But no matter how many people are going hands-on with the controllers, everyone in the room will get caught up in the big action of Wii Play: Motion.

  • Star Shuttle - Shuttle parts safely to a space station by tilting the Wii Remote Plus controller -- as if the ship is in your hand -- then firing thrusters with controller buttons.

  • Treasure Twirl - Lower a diver to the bottom of the sea by twirling the Wii Remote Plus controller to unspool his cable, and dodge sharks and jellyfish by moving the controller left and right. After you grab the sunken treasure, you'll have to pull him all the way back up again.
  • Jump Park - Jump around a huge trampoline park by tilting the Wii Remote Plus controller at the exact angle you want to bounce next. You'll gather all the gems you can to earn a high score.
  • Pose Mii Plus - As your Mii character flies through space, you'll rotate the Wii Remote Plus controller in all directions to squeeze your character through silhouette-shaped holes in barriers before you crash through them. Your Mii will change its pose often, so you'll have to act fast.

The Wii Remote Plus Controller

The Wii Remote Plus Controller is the new standard controller for the Wii gaming system, shipping with new Wii systems as well as available for individual purchase in this bundle. Like the original Wii Remote before it, this new controller utilizes a triple axis accelerometer along with a built-in optical sensor that works in conjunction with the Wii sensor bar. Together this enables the recognition of player movement as well as gives the controller the ability to act as a pointing device used in-game. In addition, the Wii Remote Plus' gyroscope technology provides on-the-fly rotational motion recognition. Once available only to Wii players who purchased the additional Wii MotionPlus accessory for the Wii Remote, it is now built into a single standard unit.

My Take on the Game
This game was fun and is filled with so many games for the whole family. All 12 of the games were perfect for playing wit the family. We lplayed for a while and though at first I was winning, I found that my daughter became the better competitor between the two of us. Of all of the 12 games, all were pretty fun. The one game that I had the more fun with was the ghost game. This game reminded me of ghost busters and I was having problems with figuring out the controls on this game in specific.
The controls on these games are fun, but I will say that on many of the games you have to be quite precise on how you move the controller as the whole game is set up on motion, so you need to make sire that you have set up your controller to work well with the movement that is needed in the game itself.

Overall though this game was a lot of fun and my daughter and I have had a ton of fun together playing this together and even though she has beat me on a number of the games I still have enjoyed the game and I know this this game will be one that we will be playing for a long time to come.
This game is an amazing games with 12 amazing fun games. The games use Wii motion plus perfectly the best use is the ghost hunting game where you search you house for ghost and the wii motion plus can detect where you are 360 angle :D The game is best played with other people and is a great multiplayer game with many games that were built up from Wii Play the original

Game Review - Zelda, Ocarina of Time 3D

About the Game
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D is a must-have single player Action-Adventure game for the Nintendo 3DS. A reimagining of the original Nintendo 64 classic, the game features the full original game graphically overhauled in the glasses-free 3D made possible by the Nintendo 3DS. Along with this, the game includes all-new new challenges unique to this release, including a master quest, a new Boss Challenge mode that allows for flexibility in how you face bosses and in-game video segments.

A N64 Classic Returns in 3D

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D takes the best-reviewed game of all-time for a brand-new experience. Now in 3D, all of the graphic textures and colors have been vastly improved, taking advantage of the considerable graphic power of the Nintendo 3DS system. This game tells the epic story of Hyrule and Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf in remarkable depth and gives context to the many tales of their struggles. As such, this title represents a perfect entry point for players new to the Zelda franchise.

Phenomenally Improved Graphics

Beyond even the incredible 3D effect, every graphic texture and character model has been lovingly built from the ground up to create the most dynamic and vivid vision of Zelda's kingdom yet. This is Hyrule as you've always imagined it.

Playing the Ocarina

Link needs to play the eponymous Ocarina of Time many, many times over the course of the game. This involves a specific series of button presses to play one of the twelve songs in the game. In the original title, you would need to assign the ocarina to an item slot, then likely review the button prompts to your song, then play them from memory. The Nintendo 3DS version has the ocarina constantly available on the Touch Screen, and playing with the button prompts for each song right in front of you.

Enhanced Gameplay

While the greatest care has been taken to preserve the classic gameplay and story, a number of new features make this the definitive version of this extraordinary game:
  • Touch-screen Accessibility - With a revamped interface designed to take advantage of the Nintendo 3DS system's dual screens, navigating menus and switching items is amazingly fast and intuitive.
  • Motion Control - New feature for first-person mode is that, in addition to using the Circle Pad to look around, you can also physically move your Nintendo 3DS system around. This makes aiming much faster and more responsive, since adjustments are made as fast as you can move. With Link, aiming your slingshot or bow is much faster and more accurate.
  • Hint Movies - New to the game and great for new players will welcome the hint-movie system, which will give them a glimpse of the future and how they need to proceed in order to see all of the game's action and story.
  • Boss Challenge - After beating each boss, you can relive that fight and try to improve your time. Once you defeat all eight bosses, you can choose to run a gauntlet of them all and try to survive.
  • Master Quest - Once you've completed the game, you gain access to the Master Quest, a challenge for even the most dedicated player. The world has been mirror-flipped, and the dungeon puzzles are all different.

My Take on the Game

I have been playing Zelda ever since the first Zelda came out and this version blows the others out of the water! This game has the characters that you know and love (and many more) as well as great graphics and easy to use controls. Also though, this game feels new, it  It's the feeling of the game that's really new. I've played before, hundreds of times, and this is game feels like the first.

Even if you have played Zelda before, you need to try this. Just because the game as been around for 13 years, everything seems to be reconstituted and you come away feeling like it is the first time you have played it.

One of the changes to the game this time is the dual screen with the inventory screen available at all time. The other controls are easy to use and the touch screen is very intuitive and you can use it to help you gain better aim in the long run.

I am very happy with the changes that they put into this as new game. Though it took a bit of time, it was well worth the wait!

Coming exclusively to the Nintendo 3DS™, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell 3D is the highly anticipated hand held game in the multimillion-selling Splinter Cell series and one of the most critically acclaimed franchises of all time.

Sam Fisher is sent behind enemy lines in the Korean Peninsula to prevent WWIII, by investigating the responsible party that sunk the USS Clarence E Walsh, U.S.’s most advanced cruiser. Through his investigation, Sam learns that the key parties who are planning to use the Masse Kernels to launch WWIII are war comrade Douglas Shetland, Displace International, and Admiral Otomo, the Third Echelon Information Self Defense Force (I-SDF) contact.

The cutting edge hardware of the new Nintendo 3DS™ allows Splinter Cell fans to play in immersive 3D and ability to interact with the game like nothing before.

Features:
  • Immersive 3D Action - Gameplay, Cinematic, Maps, HUD, Menus, Loading screens, and more are projected in stereoscopic 3D.
  • Optimized Controls - New button mapping with the Slide Pad and Touch Pad gives the player seamless control to equip weapons and gadgets for more effective mission executions.
  • Enhanced Weapons - Protagonist Sam Fisher is equipped with enhanced weapons and better gadgets to infiltrate the enemy: new fusion goggles, OCP electronic disabling device, wall mine, more add-ons for the SC-20K rifle, smoke and gas grenades.
  • Infiltration Evolved - Lock picking is enhanced by utilizing the new Slide Pad to mimic the realism of lock picking. Hacking has also evolved from numeric codes to solving interactive 3D puzzles.

My Take on the Game

I had played Chaos Theory on a friend's Nintendo DS system in the past and this game reminds me a lot about it (without the 3D action that is). As a single action shooter game, the 3D adds depth to the game. There were a few parts where it was a little blurry, but what I liked was that I could turn off the 3D if I so chose at those points in time.

It takes a little time to get used to the controls on the game, but once you do it is a lot of fun! I will warn you though that after you do get the controllers down, this game can be addicting and you can find yourself losing track of time and instead finding that hours have passed you by (not that this has happened to me...I'm just saying).

The one part of the game that I did not like was the time it takes to load the game. At different points in the game, it tends to get bogged down, such as when you die and need to restart. Though this was a bit frustrating at times, I still loved the game and know that I will be playing it for a long time to come.

  • Challenge Your Friends - Race through a level as quickly as you can, share a ghosted replay of your best run, and dare your friends to beat it.
  • Unleash Your Creativity - Create your own pulse-quickening levels and share them with players all over the world.

My Take on the Game

I have been playing the 3DS now for about a month and I have to say it is so much fun! I love the graphics in the games and the fun you can have on all levels. With this game, I did not know what to expect, but when I got into the game I found it to be quite addictive!

The first thing you have to get used to on this game is the fact that you are not using buttons to control the character, instead you are using your body. By tilting the controller in the direction in which you wish it to go you are able to have fun with the character and are able to get both you and the character into precarious situations. This type of game control does take some tie, but when you do get used to it, it is worth the work as it is so much fun!

I have not yet gotten through the game, but I will say that I have tried it out for a while now and the fun continues to follow along. The graphics are good and the music is lively. Overall, this was a fun game that I know you will enjoy!

Game Review - Michael Jackson The Experience

About the Game
No artist in history has commanded the stage like Michael Jackson, the undisputed King of Pop. With over 800 million albums sold worldwide and 13 #1 singles in the U.S, there is no doubt that Michael Jackson’s music influenced pop culture as we know it today. Michael Jackson The Experience is the ultimate performance game featuring the world’s ultimate performer - providing an interactive experience that enables players to step into the shoes of Michael Jackson himself and re-live his most iconic moments through their own performance. Michael Jackson The Experience includes the original songs you know and love from his extensive catalog, including Billie Jean and Beat It, and proves that anybody can groove like the King of Pop!

FEATURES:

Nintendo Wii:
- Anybody can dance like the King of Pop with the fun and accessible gameplay that made Just Dance a worldwide hit.

- Family and friends can relive the magic of their favorite Michael Jackson songs in multi-player and competitive modes making The Experience the ultimate party game.

My Take on the Game
This was an amazing game. We have Just Dance 2 at home and the kids love this, but this game takes dancing to the next level. I will mention that if you are getting this game or planning on playing it make sure that you have room as you will be moving and you will be getting a workout. No wonder you always noticed Michael sweating after he did his dance routines!

My eldest had heard of Michigan Jackson from us in the past and she knew some of his music, but now we have made her a convert. The kids love it (and now even more songs than just thriller)! My eldest daughter continuously wants to have dance offs with us now (and she sometimes wins). One nice thing in the game was the fact that f you do well on dances you can unlock bonuses, so there is an incentive for doing better each time (and not just for the workout).

Overall the detail in this game was superb. You will notice similar graphics to what you see in a game like Just Dance 2 but that does not detract from the game. In fact it adds to the game as you are not distracted by the game of anything around it, you can focus on the music and dancing which is what the game is all about! If you are a Michael Jackson fan, this game is a must have, and if you have children who do not know Michael Jackson, this is a great game to introduce them to the King of Pop!

Game Review - Raving Rabbids Travel in Time (WII)

About the Game
The Rabbids are about to change the course of human history and you’re invited to the party!

Rabbids are bwaaack and this time they have an infallible plan to travel back in time and invade human history! Plunge into the past with the wacky Rabbids and revisit the greatest moments of history like the discovery of fire, the broken nose of the Sphinx or the legend of Arthur. Uncover how Rabbids wreaked havoc and changed the course of history.

Key Features:

  • Deeper mini-games: 25 mini-games with 4 different types of gameplay and 10 micro-games: flying, dancing, bouncing & pointing games in different historical environments from Egyptians to King Arthur.

  • More competition, more fun: Sabotage your opponents, seamless online/offline gameplay, multiplayer up to 4 players.

  • High level of customization: pick and play between 30 unique historical costumes, such as Indian, Cowboy, Egyptian and Musketeer.

  • Wii motion compatible, no board required.

  • My Take on the Game

The first thing that I loved about this game was the fact that it provides games within games. There are so many mini-games within this game that you will be amazed at the amount of fun that you and up to three other friends or family members can have in the ever-changing silly game.

I have played Raving Rabbids games before, and if you liked the graphics then, you will like it now as they continue in their full vivid color and display. There are better graphics out there for other games, but I have to say that the graphics did not hold me back at all! For me, this game was more about the fun you can have!

The game transports the Rabbids back in time to many different points and they get into a ton of hair-brained situations that you have to work hard on getting through. It takes some hand-eye coordination in some parts and my eldest daughter took a little time to get used to the game itself (she's almost seven). One of the things I would definitely recommend is that you take the time to watch the short videos that are spread throughout the game. The Rabbids are just so funny and especially if you are playing with younger kids, they just love them and find them to be hilarious!

I have now played a number of the mini-games (though not all) as well as the WII Motion plus games, and all are fun. I really enjoyed the motion plus games though and found them to be interactive and engaging and the extra motion adds that extra bonus for the players enjoyment.

One of the things that my daughter loved was dressing up the Rabbids in period costumes (I think she liked the mummy costume best).

Overall this was a great game and one that I would highly recommend for the whole family!
