Little monster, indeed: Girl murders and mutilates cat for its blood - for a Lady Gaga costume
A 20-year-old Oklahoma woman has been charged with animal cruelty after mutilating her family cat to obtain its blood for a Lady Gaga costume.
The 15-year-old tabby cat was found by local police drowned and sliced down its underside. The cat’s eyes were mutilated and its gutted liver was later found in a make-up case in the bathroom.
Angelina Barnes was arraigned in the Oklahoma County district court in Oklahoma City after a relative arrived at her family home to find her in complete darkness. Police found the house in an unusual condition.
‘There were things done to the house like covering light switches with duct tape so (the relative) wouldn't be able to turn on the light,’ Sargent Gary Knight told KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City.
‘[Barnes' relative] became very afraid that the suspect was going to try to do harm to her,’ Sargent Knight added.
According to court documents, Banes was discovered by police in a long coat, with streaks of blood running down her face. It was the outfit that she had concocted to attend the pop star's Monster Ball concert.
The young woman asked the police for help, after which she was taken to a local hospital where she reportedly threatened an orderly with a piece of glass.
Investigators also found purple hair dye and blood all over the bathroom.
Shocked neighbours have said that those that lived in the house with Barnes were very friendly, adding that they hope that she recovers soon.
It has been confirmed by KFOR that Barnes did suffer from depression. She is currently receiving treatment at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Oklahoma City.
