Book Review - Get to Know Your Kid

About the Book
Get to Know Your Kid is a book of questions for pre-teen kids. Formulated with the guidance of two child psychologists, the questions are specifically designed to encourage young children to open up and share their thoughts, hopes, fears and dreams.

But Get to Know Your Kid is more than just a book of questions; it is also designed to become a memento. At the top of each page is a question and underneath is space to write your child’s answer. The book is beautifully illustrated and brought to you by Stewart, Tabori & Chang, an imprint of ABRAMS, the publishers of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

In this fast-paced world we live in, it’s hard to slow down and just be present with our children. Get to Know Your Kid gives you a reason to step back, take time out of your busy life and enjoy what is right in front of you—your kids. By opening up a conversation between you and your child, you will start a lifelong dialogue that will bring you closer together now and in the years to come.

Childhood is precious, yet fleeting. Get to Know Your Kid lets you capture the remarkable personality of one of the most important people you’ll ever knowyour child—and remember it forever.

My Take on the Book
Our kids get old too quickly and as we get older (yes it is going to happen) we sometimes forget some of the small, but important things that they think, feel and say.

This book allows parents to take those special moments and to remember them. It poses a ton of great questions to start dialogues with your kids about important issues and simply fun things as well.

This is definitely a book that will bring you and your child closer together and I know that I look forward to using this further with my own kids. I even think it would be interesting to use these questions at different points in their formative years and then sharing this with them when they are either in or just out of college.

I highly recommend this book. Not only is it great for you as a parent, but also for your children as well!
